SERVICE PROJECT Rotarian Milton Moorer will be leading a team of volunteers this weekend (Saturday, December 9, 2017) to pick up litter along a 2-mile stretch of State Highway 7 West (Airport Highway). Volunteers need to dress appropriately for the weather and task of picking up litter in the weeds and in the ditch. Work Gloves are recommended. With the recent rain, some areas will be wet, so appropriate footwear (boots) is strongly recommended. Safety vests and trash bags will be provided. Meet at the TxDOT Adopt-A-Highway Sign at SH 7 @ West Loop 224. The club will purchase breakfast for all volunteers afterward. |

Rotary’s long standing commitment to ‘Service Above Self’ continues in our April 4, 2018 Blood Drive hosted by the fine staff at Blood Center of East Texas, Nacogdoches, Texas. The drive will be held in the Fredonia Hotel from 10 am to 2 pm. There is no substitute for blood components so if it’s not there when a patient needs it, the patient dies! That’s how critical an adequate, local, blood supply really is. Just talk to any of our members who have used blood (Bill Teague, over 20 unites; Jeff Davis, Bryan Holt’s son; Bryan used almost 20 units; etc.). If you can’t give on April 4, then give at either of the BCET’s facilities in Nacogdoches or Lufkin during the month of April and tell the screener you’re giving for Rotary Club of Nacogdoches, Group # 7293 and our club will get credit for the donation. Donors will get a T-Shirt and patients get life-saving support. If you’ve been told you can’t give, call Delphi at the BCET, 936-506-3054; FDA makes these rules and they change regularly. There is no upper age limit and if you’re in general good health, you are probably eligible. |
