Tanya Harry, Executive Director of CASA of Deep East Texas was the guest speaker at the Wednesday, April 5, 2017, meeting of the Rotary Club of Nacogdoches.

Ms. Harry provided an excellent overview of CASA and the services it provides to children who are victims of child abuse.  CASA volunteers (Court Appointed Special Advocates) are appointed by Judge to serve as the “eyes and ears” for them in child welfare cases.  These volunteers bring three critical qualities to their work: they focus on one case at a time; they bring a unique perspective to the court case, and their sole objective is representing the best interests of the child.

Lisa McCreary, Director of the Nacogdoches Technical Center of Angelina College was installed as a new member of the club by Rotary Membership Chairman Dr. James Standley.
