Amanda Johnson, director of The Helping House in Nacogdoches, was the guest speaker at the Wednesday, April 12, 2017, meeting of the Rotary Club of Nacogdoches. 

Ms. Johnson provided a program on the services her agency provides for children on the autism spectrum and their families.  Programs include daily school services, a summer clinic, a weekly social skills group and a parent support group.  Ms. Johnson also announced her agency’s current expansion of its facilities which will allow additional services and programs to be provided to those in need in our community.

Dave Wallace provided information and a report regarding the recently established scholarship at the Stephen F. Austin Alumni Association in honor of late Rotarian and SFA Professor of Agriculture, Dr. Leon Young.  The club provided a $1,000 contribution as one of the initial gifts to the scholarship’s endowment.
