Members of the Parks Advocacy League of Nacogdoches (PAL) were guest speakers at the Wednesday, March 29, 2017, meeting of the Rotary Club of Nacogdoches.

PAL was founded in June 2014 with the purpose to improve the aesthetics and function of our Nacogdoches City Parks and park facilities for our community via organized stewardship and funding development.

The program provided an overview of several our parks in Nacogdoches either with recent improvements completed or planned in the near future with assistance from PAL.

Ed Cole was recognized and will be included in the Rotary District 5910 Roll of Fame at the upcoming Rotary Conference to be held  April 29 in Lufkin.

Ed Pool received the Rotary International’s “Avenues of Service Citation” for his work with the Rotary Mobile Library.  The award is provided annually to individual Rotarians as recognition for outstanding efforts in each of the five avenues of Rotary service, Club, Vocational, Community,
International, and Youth.

DeAnn Knox, NHS Rotary Interact Sponsor, Katherine Whitbeck, NHS Student Council Sponsor and members of this year’s Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program were introduced to the club by Rotarian Kent Hutchison.  RYLA is a leadership program that is coordinated by Rotary Clubs around the globe.
